Crucified Barbara was an all-female Swedish hard rock and heavy metal band, formed in Stockholm in 1998. Crucified Barbara started out in 1998 as a punk rock band, but soon they changed their primary style to hard rock. They signed in 2003 with GMR Music Group of Stockholm. Recordings took place in Kristianopel, Sweden at Pama Studios/Blakk Records with producer-engineer Mankan Sedenberg during the spring of 2004.
Fans of Crucified Barbara, check out Ida, Klara and Nickis new band The Heard! Their first single, WHITE LIGHTNING, is out today on all digital platforms. Heavy riffs, misty songs, dark waters and a death supreme.
The Skinny Player kinda reminds me of the O+ Music Campaign where the promotional kit offers one song in various mediums. The concept here with the Skinny Player is to offer one album space on a portable – Band Aid-esque device. The self-sticking player houses a play/stop button and flexible speakers. Although I am not so sure about the sound quality for the output, but the idea is worth exploring
The band's agents, Riverman Management told The Times yesterday that Mr Fox's case should be directed against Virgin, the label that put the album out, rather than the band themselves. Placebo went on to release five studio albums and sell more than 10 million records worldwide. The preppy-looking girl on Vampire Weekend's 2010 album is former model Ann Kirsten Kennis in a Polaroid from 1983. The band loved the image but it came as a surprise to Kennis who only discovered her face was being used after her daughter bought the album home. The band later settled out of court.
Another live big band album, this one recorded in 1957. While the arrangements themselves aren’t especially innovative (although I love Ernie Wilkin’s tongue-in-cheek arrangement of Doodlin’ here), the soloing on this album are incredible all over. Including Dizzy, memorable soloists on this album include trombonist Al Grey and tenor saxophonist Benny Golson. I’ve always enjoyed the clever writing on the opening track, Prologue (This Is an Orchestra) where Kenton introduces the entire band and the role they play in his orchestra. And of course, as a trombonist, I have to favor two tunes that feature the great Frank Rosolino, Frankly Speaking and 23 Degrees North – 82 Degrees West (the coordinates of Cuba make the title for this Afro-Cuban groove chart).
