Forth is the fourth and most recent studio album by the English alternative rock band The Verve before their second break up in 2009. It was released internationally on 25 August 2008 on EMI, and a day later in North America on the On Your Own label. The band reformed in 2007, having broken up in 1999. Forth is their first album of new material since their 1997 album Urban Hymns. The album's first single, "Love Is Noise", received its first airplay on BBC Radio 1 on 23 June 2008. The song reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart and became a summer hit in Europe
Label: On Your Own Records – VER01LP. All tracks originally recorded by Cameron Jenkins at State Of The Ark Studios, London. this was quickly ceased due to cost issues.
The Verve recorded their third studio album, Urban Hymns, in early 1997. It was a commercial success, topping the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Swedish albums charts and reaching the top ten in Australia and France. The singles "Bitter Sweet Symphony" and "The Drugs Don't Work" became international. A greatest hits album, This Is Music: The Singles 92–98, was released in 2004, and the group reformed again in 2007
Parlophone) The Verve's fourth album manages not to collapse under the weight of Richard Ashcroft's ego - just. Judging by the contents of Forth, the Verve spent their time in the studio behaving the way all men in their late 30s behave at a reunion: they stayed up late pretending to be 21 again. In stoned psychedelic texture and brooding atmosphere, Forth recalls the Verve's first two albums, A Storm in Heaven and A Northern Soul. Legend has it that both of those were recorded under the influence of copious quantities of drugs. No one is confessing whether stimulants were involved in the making of Forth. But with several songs meandering past the six- or seven-minute mark, you suspect that no one.
The band quickly reunited and released the album Urban Hymns in 1997 which was critically acclaimed and voted by listeners as one of the best albums of the year. By the time of their second break up in 1999, The Verve had left a lasting legacy that only a few other 90’s Brit Pop bands could claim. With other acts such as Oasis and Blur, The Verve were part of an everlasting onslaught that caught on quick here in America during the 90’s. They are best known for their song Bitter Sweet Symphony, which has been covered by numerous acts including Madonna and Kayne West. Known by many as British.

The second Verve reunion album, released 11 years after the last one, finds them still trying to be the biggest band in the world- and still failing. What else could the parting skies and emergent God rays on Forth's cover mean but that He hath returned? To be fair, musically speaking, about half of Forth is as good as the band's commercial breakthrough, Urban Hymns- and, if you consider the general hit/miss ratio of decade-removed comeback albums, that's actually a pretty respectable showing. It also helps to explain why at least some of the British press have met this new record with typically effusive praise: the soft bigotry of low expectations.
