This Is The Actual Record That Got Me Into The Grateful Dead.
The Best of the Grateful Dead Live is a compilation album by the rock band the Grateful Dead. It contains songs that were recorded live in concert and previously released on other Grateful Dead albums.
The discography of the rock band the Grateful Dead includes more than 200 albums, the majority of them recorded live in concert. The band has also released more than two dozen singles and a number of videos. The Grateful Dead formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1965 amid the counterculture of the 1960s. They had many musical influences, and their music evolved to a great degree over time. They made extensive use of improvisation, and are considered one of the originators of jam band music

Only 15 left in stock (more on the way). This powerful live album, where it was recorded live at The Filmore West in San Francisco earlier that year, is highly presented in much of the same way it went down at this event, and Live/ Dead will live on forever as one of their greatest and important achievements. I originally bought this album on vinyl back in the 70s. The original vinyl release was a two-album set, which had some awkward breaks at the ends of each side of the record.
The album features 19 songs and all were remastered from live album and archival recordings from their early days of 1969 to their final year of 1995

Spread over two LPs, Live/Dead (1969) finally was able to relay the intrinsic sonic magnificence of a Dead show in real time. This version was recorded on February 27, 1969, at the Fillmore West and is presented pretty much the way it went down at the show. The same is true of the seven remaining titles on Live/Dead.
Grateful Dead were one of the most popular touring bands of the 60s and their live double-album from 1969 shows why. With no shortage of candidates to consider among the best live albums of all time, Live/Dead was our first live release and it remains one of our best-loved albums, said drummer Bill Kreutzmann. Its appeal was that it took great ‘you-had-to-be-there’ live versions of songs like ‘Dark Star’ and ‘The Eleven’ and put them right in people’s living rooms. After their album Bad Reputation reached N. in the UK Top 10 in 1977, Thin Lizzy decided that a live album was the way to go – a sensible decision for a band who excelled in concert. Tony Visconti was chosen by guitarist and lead vocalist Phil Lynott as the man to produce the album and he worked on the final mix at the Studio Des Dames in Paris, overdubbing to achieve a more uniform sound.
