Great new release from Danny Byrd. A tune that would have fitted in fine back in the day. A bit of a breath of fresh air from all the jump up releases imo!

Danny Byrd was one of the first artists to sign to Hospital Records in 1999. His first Hospital singles were Do It Again and Changes. In 2000 BBC Radio 1's Fabio championed Danny's remix of London Elektricity's Wishing Well. Remixes by Danny Byrd for High Contrast and contributions to the Hospital Records compilation "Weapons of Mass Creation" followed. His second album is called "Rave Digger", and was released in October 2010. Red Mist VIP, a new version of the latter track, appeared on Hospital's compilation Sick Music and has appeared in the film Dead Man Running and computer games Midnight Club LA and DJ Hero.
Shock Out is already becoming an anthem across the board, not only with fans of oldskool and choppage, but with the mainroom destroyers like Andy C all jumping on board. Labyrinth on the flip is unadulterated Byrd euphoria. Simultaneously as deep as you like, but with the energy and drive to keep the floor packed, it's a magical combo. The Byrdman sets out his stall for a massive year in 2008.
Danny Byrd’s uplifting DnB was a breath of fresh air when he joined Hospital Records as one of their first new signings of the Millennium. His vocal R&B and hip-hop- infused style was an antidote to a scene which at the time was moody as hell, with a slew of Ed Rush & Optical and Bad Company clones invading the genre with their techstep and darkcore assaults. All the copycats had taken it really fucking dark, says Danny. The emotion had gone, and it was a dark period. I was really feeling good about the jungle influence of Shock Out so I decided to do a lot more stuff with breaks, too. I used a lot of different jungle breaks. That was the other thing that I noticed when making this album – you can’t use the same drums. This was probably the first one I made for the album. I started it at one of the Sun & Bass festivals, on my laptop.
