Rob Hoeke was a Dutch boogie woogie pianist. Hoeke garnered great popularity in the second half of the sixties, in the midst of the blues boom in the Netherlands. Two tracks by his band hit the charts right away: "Drinkin on my bed" (1966, N. 1) and "Margio" (1966). The last hit from Hoeke was "Down South P. " (1970). Due to the fact that the name Hoeke was no longer suitable for the times, he instead chose to stick with boogie and blues, but his popularity still plunged considerably during the first half of the '70s.
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is a folk song written by Anne Bredon in the late 1950s. Joan Baez recorded a solo version for her 1962 album Joan Baez in Concert and a variety of musicians subsequently adapted it to a variety of styles, including Led Zeppelin.
Babe, babe, babe, babe, babe, babe, baby, baby I want to leave you I ain't joking woman, I've got to ramble Oh, yeah, baby, baby, I believin' We really got to ramble (I can hear it calling me) I can hear it calling me the way it used to do I can hear it calling me back home. Babe I’m Gonna Leave You illustrates the breakdown of a relationship over a mellow backing track. It was originally written by folk singer Anne Bredon and recorded by Joan Baez, of whom both guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant were fans.

The late pianist Rob Hoeke had an interesting career, not much of it touching on the heavy side that I usually use but it did now and again. Primarily a boogie woogie and blues player, he began in 1957 with his brother Paul in the Rob Hoeke Boogie Woogie Quartet. After an opportunity to sit in on piano with The Rolling Stones in Sweden, R&B became his focus and he formed The Rob Hoeke R&B Group, and other such permutations within his circle of collaborators. The album used here, 'Celsius 23. ', included a few fine psych moments, and some of his singles rocked hard. Babe Ruth (1). Baby (1). Bachman-Turner Overdrive (1).
