Formed in 1969, Hawkwind are a prolific and pioneering space-rock group from the UK. Within weeks of their formation, the band had made a name for themselves on the free festival circuit and would perform live without fee wherever they were able.
Hawkwind are an English rock band and one of the earliest space rock groups. Formed in November 1969, Hawkwind have gone through many incarnations and they have incorporated different styles into their music, including hard rock, progressive rock and psychedelic rock. They are also regarded as an influential proto-punk band. Their lyrics favour urban and science fiction themes.
Into the Woods is a concept album and 30th album by space rock band Hawkwind, released on 5 May 2017. In an interview with Phil Alexander for Planet Rock, Brock described the album as 'a continuation of the story of The Machine Stops". The album charted at number 34 in the Official UK Charts. Dave Brock - vocals, guitar, keyboards, synthesisers, theremin. Richard Chadwick - drums, percussion, vocals. Mr Dibs - vocals, keyboards, synthesisers. Magnus Martin - keyboards, guitar.
Hawkwind is the self-titled debut album by Hawkwind, released in 1970, originally on Liberty Records, later reissued on Sunset Records. This album is historic since it is one of the first space rock LPs. Contents.
This album was the very first release of the band and recording for it was started only a few months after the band’s, rather disastrous, first live appearance. It must be said that for an outfit that just months before had no set songs to play, (And indeed not even a name), and was only able to deliver a highly chaotic jammed version of a then popular song by another artist, it was rather a tour the force to get the album ready in the first place. But, so far for the good news. If you ask me if this is great music, I can only answer: No, it is not. But these two Hawkwind experiments clearly prove that Kraut should better be left to the Germans. Had it not been for the sixth track of the album, the lengthy Seeing it as You Really Are, the band would have run a serious risk of sinking into oblivion after just one release. This is indeed a real beauty, with varying theme’s and tempo’s and with the later so characteristic Hawkwind sound already faintly visible above the horizon.
HAWKWIND is a Psychedelic/Space Rock, Progressive Rock artist from United Kingdom. There are at least 100 total albums that are either compilations, EP's, bootlegs of live performances, etc. You can't go wrong with any of the 70's releases in my opinion. Doremi Fasol Latido" ('72) - A great album with a heavy metal space rock a-la lan Lemmy KILMISTER, who later founded MOTORHEAD. A Space Ritual" ('73) - The essential live album combining Space-rock music, and poetry.
Produced by former Pretty Things guitarist Dick Taylor, Hawkwind's first album was rightfully compared to Pink Floyd's early sound: an appealing conglomeration of hippie rock grooves and interplanetary guitar trips set to the phosphorescent wandering of Dik Mik's electronics and Nik Turner's cool sax playing. Hawkwind may not have been their most lucrative album, but it's where it all began. Hawkwind's initial galactic blues-rock sound is based on Dave Brock's guitar playing, rising smoke-like through the haze of lyrical space funk
