12 Golden Country Greats is Ween's fifth album, and third on Elektra Records. This album marked the first time Ween limited themselves to a specific genre of music. According to producer and friend of the band Ben Vaughn, Ween asked him to produce the album as he had already been working with musicians on the Nashville country scene, having produced Arthur Alexander's Lonely Just Like Me album and co-written songs with Rodney Crowell and Gary Nicholson.
Sidney Brown (1906 – August 6, 1981) was a Cajun accordion builder and accordion player. In the 1950s, he recorded with his band, Sidney Brown and the Traveler Playboys. He would eventually be recognized as the first person to build Cajun accordions after World War II in Louisiana Brown was born in Church Point, Louisiana.
