Detestation (Endless Blockades for the Pussy Footer, Death Agonies and Screams and more).

Album Name Detestation. Labels Dogma Records. Members owning this album6. 1. Endless Blockades For The Pussyfooter.

In 1984, GISM released their first album titled 'Detestation' on Dogma Records. The album has been applauded for having unique vocals and a guitar style that was very uncommon in hardcore punk. or 'Military Affairs Neurotic', was released in 1987 on Beast Arts Records. The album was quite a departure from the 'Detestation' album, putting more emphasis on a slower, metal style of music compared to the hardcore punk sound of the previous release. GISM released their last album on compact disc titled 'SoniCRIME TheRapy' in 2001.

GISM's sound on Detestation is the best of any of their albums in my opinion. The guitar's high-end is really fuzzy and treble-driven, sometimes sounding like a Nintendo game. Most people would say this is detracting for an artist, but it really fits in the music strangely. The best part of the guitars are the brilliant harmonies played in true classic heavy metal style throughout the album. The bass is usually in the background, but when it comes out, it makes harsh dissonance that sets the dirty, weird mood GISM evokes. to an almost sing-song (but very operatic) voice near the end of "Nih Nightmare".

Comments to album Gism - Detestation
There's four additional songs on this version that aren't listed on the cover. Does anybody know what they are?
Are any of the bootlegs a good bootleg thats faithful to the sound of the original LP?
Actually, I haven't seen any "Dogma"-releases without the "City-Rocker"-Logo, yet. I am highly interested in seeing a photo of the back-cover of the "original" pressing to see if it's also got the "City Rocker"-label imprint. The ones without a "City Rocker"-Logo that I've seen so far are obvious bootlegs (for example by "GOMAD Records") that sometimes don't even try to make the impression of an original release. As far as I know "Dogma" was a kind of sub-label of "City Rocker" (established for the more hardcore-orientated releases.) Both Labels were run by a person called Miki Moriwaki and ended in 1990.Nevertheless, the "Dogma/CityRocker"-Release is said to be a bootleg (look here: http://www.discogs.com/Gism-Detestation/release/2025868 ). Is there any clear proof for that?It is also said, that only Matrix-Numbers "DOG-1A / DOG-1B with additional 1-A-2 on the A Side, and 1.. on the B Side" are "original" pressings (here: http://www.discogs.com/GISM-Detestation/release/1256324 ).Well, I've seen slightly different Numbers like 1-A-3 and 1-A-4 on the "Dogma/City Rocker"-release, which doesn't necessarily mean that these are "bootlegs" - they could also be pressings from a later production run, and therefore legit, right?Additionally, I'm not sure about the "heavier stock sleeve"... does anybody have a photo of what it should look like? I think it's kind of strange, that no detailed photos of the "one-&-only-truly-original Dogma-only pressing with the right matrix numbers" can be found anywhere. Even here, it's just a pretty meaningless picture of the front-cover. I'd highly appreciate any profound information and pictures anyone has to offer.
I'm holding the original and this bootleg in my hands right now, here are the differences...-as others mentioned, it's a heavy card stock sleeve. "tip-on" style sleeve, white inside... The boot is a standard sleeve, kinda gray inside.-the original has GISM on the spine at the top... the boot does not. -the original has the full image... the boot image has been blown-up, parts of the image are missing. (on the boot see... slip of paper bottom center is cut off, some half soldiers heads on the left are cut off, soldier's hat on the right is almost touching the edge of the record, sword through skull on top right has a piece missing at the tip, etc...)-the original has lots of gray areas in the image... the boot is almost b&w an obvious copy (most obvious on the boot... the head under the skull on the right, the arm, legs underneath and the slip of paper at the bottom all have lots of gray on the original... boot is white)-the back on both are almost exactly the same... again the boot has loss of gray from the original-the labels are also almost exactly the same... the boot is clearly copied from the original with noticeable loss in quality on the side with the song titles, they are kinda blurry, low quality, kinda grayish... the original is sharp, crisp, clear and white.-also... this particular bootleg did not come with a poster but I suppose someone could reproduce one and stick it in the sleeve. The original is clearly printed. one side is almost entirely black, it bleeds through a bit on to the "punks is hippies" side.and... as mentioned here, the original has Dogma and City Rocker on the back. that is not a determining factor for bootlegs.there ya go... happy hunting.
Hello ,i have detestation on dogma/city rocker records. Both labels on back cover.Cover is heavier cardboard then most covers.matrix nambers a side 1b.. and 1.. b side 1b and 1.. can email pics my email is [email protected]
Nope. All other ebsites I've found just copy the information from discogs, mostly without scrutinizing any of the given information.Dogma definetily was a sub-Label of CityRocker. (So, the original Dogma-release is automatically a CityRocker-release.) And I still haven't seen a picture of an original without a CityRocker-Imprint. It might help to look up some auctions or sales (also old ones e.g. on popsike). You can compare pics of the ones sold from Japan (and those which have been sold for a higher Price) with other copies. However - sure signs for a bootleg are:- speed: any other than 45rpm - vinyl: any other colour than black- poster: only one sided print - cover artwork: altered swastikas; front picture "blown up" (=parts of the original artwork have been cut off)- sleeve: not a "tip-on"-sleeve
Did you ever find any more info on this!?
