Joy Division Here Are The Young Men.
Substance is a singles compilation album by English rock band Joy Division. It was released on 11 July 1988 by Factory Records. It peaked at number 7 on the UK Albums Chart and 146 on the Billboard 200, the band's only chart appearance in the United States. It also reached number 15 in New Zealand and number 53 in Australia in August 1988.
Joy Division was formed in 1976 by guitarist Bernard Sumner and bassist Peter Hook, later recruiting singer Ian Curtis and drummer Stephen Morris. The band released its debut album, Unknown Pleasures, in 1979 on independent label Factory. On 18 May 1980, the eve of the band's first American tour, Curtis was found dead in his home. Unable to continue as Joy Division, the remaining members disbanded the group. The band's second album, Closer, was released two months later to critical acclaim. Since then, several posthumous releases have been issued from the band. Love Will Tear Us Apart" (second re-release). Here Are the Young Men. Released: August 1982.
With Anya Taylor-Joy, Finn Cole, Ralph Ineson, Emmett J Scanlan. Dublin teenagers Matthew, nihilistic Rez, and the deranged Kearney, leave school to a social vacuum of drinking and drugs, falling into shocking acts of transgression.

Here are the young men: Joy Division in the late '70s. From left to right: Bernard Sumner, Ian Curtis, Stephen Morris, and Peter Hook. Love will tear us apart again. Initially named Warsaw (under which name they recorded an unreleased album, later bootlegged), the band changed its name to Joy Division in late 1977, which got them in trouble at first, because of its fascist overtones. As Joy Division, they recorded an EP, which was basically Punk with literary lyrics. This and playing around Manchester, brought the group to the attention of Tony Wilson, and they joined his record label Factory Records
The group recorded a second appearance on Granada Television ("She's Lost Control") and began to play more dates during the summer: several in London, including the Electric Ballroom and the Nashville, the Futurama Festival in Leeds, and the Leigh Festival in Lancashire. Four songs from the Effenar, Eindhoven date were filmed in Super 8, and were included in "Here Are The Young Men".

The end result turned up in 1988, and as a listen easily demonstrated that the same sheer sweep and energy that applied to the band over a full-length album similarly worked, even more so, with the focus of a 7" or 12" release. Though the earliest tracks like "Warsaw" and "Leaders of Men" were a strange sort of art punk, there.
