Broke up shortly after but returned in January 1995, releasing their eponymous debut album in early 1997. Marstal left the band in late 1997 and Høeg too in 1999 to become a father. Both returned in 2002. Following their third split in 1999 Carsten Lykke pursued his solo career and had a hit with "Hvis Frederik Var Til Fyre" from the album Selvoptaget (2001), until the band returned in 2002 in the original constellation. Ibens has released three studio albums, two EP's and one compilation from 1996-2008.

Ibens broke through in 1997 with their first eponomyous album and played several concerts and the "Roskilde Festival". In 1997 they split due to pdifferences, but in 1998 the band was born again - in a new lineup. The album "Maskulin" was released to little success. Ibens is primary classified as indie, but parts of electronica and pop punk also take place in their music.
