Livestock is a live album by British jazz fusion group Brand X released in 1977. The album has five tracks. It is the first album on which Kenwood Dennard appears as a replacement drummer for Phil Collins on two of the five tracks. Nightmare Patrol" (Goodsall, Dennard) – 7:40. Hammersmith Odeon, London - 5 August 1977. -Ish" (Goodsall, Lumley, Jones, Pert, Collins) – 8:11. Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, London - September 1976. Euthanasia Waltz" (Goodsall, Jones, Lumley, Collins) – 5:12.

Livestock is their third album and if it was recorded live, only two tracks were from previous albums. But the rest of the (unreleased) tracks are right on par with the excellence of their first two albums. My favourite BRAND X album right here. I understand this was released between their first two studio albums making these first three recordings essential in my opinion. This is not a live album from one concert as we get Phil Collins playing drums on 3 tracks while Kenwood Dennard plays on the other 3 songs.

Livestock may also refer to: Livestock (Brand X album), 1977. Livestock (Fraternity album), 1971. Livestock (film), a 2009 American independent horror film. Livestock (rapper), a rapper and hip-hop artist from Guelph, Ontario. Al-An'am, "Livestock", sixth chapter of the Qur'an.

Masques is the 1978 album by the British jazz fusion group Brand X. This was the band's first studio recording without drummer Phil Collins. The rear of the album cover has a photo of the crowd from the Knebworth Festival, 1978 - a bill that included both Brand X and Genesis, Collins' other band. Side one. "The Poke" (Goodsall) - 5:10. Masques" (Jones, Robinson) - 3:16. Black Moon" (Pert) - 4:48. Deadly Nightshade" (Pert) - 11:22.

Recorded on the Manor Mobile at Ronnie Scotts, London Sept, 1976 and at Hammersmith Odeon and the Marque Club, London August 1977.

Lest the momentum of Moroccan Roll and its relative chart success go to waste, Brand X released a stopgap solution with Livestock, featuring three recent live tracks and two stockpiled studio tracks that actually predate the Moroccan Roll sessions by two months. As might be expected, it's not their most enduring work, although the inclusion of three new originals and the clean recording obtained from the Hammersmith Odeon and Marquee Club performances produce respectable results. The drum section remained in flux for their next album, as Collins took a brief hiatus from the band and Dennard continued to build his jazz resume on albums by Jaco Pastorius, Larry Coryell, Miles Davis, and Sting. While Livestock is arguably the least essential of their first seven albums, fans shouldn't be discouraged from picking this one up. ~ Dave Connolly.

LIVESTOCK' is one of greatest GUITAR ORIENTED fusion records ever made. It is INTENSE; it is BIZZARE; it is A BURST OF ADRENALINE LIKE NO OTHER. JOHN GOODSALL's superspeed, edding solos (especially the one on Euthanasia Waltz) have NEVER BEEN TOPPED in terms of OVERALL INTENSITY and ESSENTIAL COOLNESS. And indeed, Brand X did a number of very interesting albums that explored a strange, shadowy side of prog rock that Genesis never dared to tread. They had some fascinating albums such as "Morrocan Roll" and "Do They Hurt?". You have to be careful, because Brand X did forget for a while that their intention was to explore the obscure side, and they put out some real clunkers that were nothing more than cheap pop albums.
