Treasury of Greek Mythology book. Brought to life with lyrical text by award-winning a School Library Journal Best Books of 2011.
Greek mythology is a part of our heritage. The stories belong to us, and connecting to them enriches our lives and our understanding of the world in which we live.
Greek lit prof Buxton (Imaginary Greece: the Contexts of Mythology) treats the subject thematically, covering Greek origin myths, the character and functions of the Olympian gods, the exploits of heroes, the Homeric epics and the sagas of the House of Atreus and other tragic clans in which there is a "seamless connection between heroic exploits and domestic catastrophes. I got this book for school and it was full of information of Greek Mythology. We used a book by Bulfinch as well but this one was by far better at giving the background and the genealogy of the characters. It also has some pretty cool pictures of art and landscapes. Its more focused on the history aspect than on the actual stories though.

In ancient Greek religion and mythology, the Erinyes, also known as the Furies, were female chthonic deities of vengeance, sometimes referred to as "infernal goddesses" (χθόνιαι θεαί). A formulaic oath in the Iliad invokes them as "the Erinyes, that under earth take vengeance on men, whosoever hath sworn a false oath. They correspond to the Dirae in Roman mythology.
Welcome to the Theoi Project, a site exploring Greek mythology and the gods in classical literature and art. The aim of the project is to provide a comprehensive, free reference guide to the gods (theoi), spirits (daimones), fabulous creatures (theres) and heroes of ancient Greek mythology and religion. Transliterated forms of Greek names are used throughout the biography pages of the site rather than their Latin forms, . Kirke instead of Circe, Ouranos for Uranus, Apollon in place of Apollo, etc. The index and introduction pages, however, use the Latin name-forms for ease of reference.
