Pass the Flask is the first full album released by American post-hardcore band the Bled. The Bled originally released their first album on Fiddler Records, an independent, now defunct record label. Pass the Flask sold approx 50,000 copies while on Fiddler. The Bled then signed to Vagrant Records to release their second album, Found in the Flood.
The Bled : Pass the Flask. Hardcore, USA (2003 - Ride The Rocket Records) Learn more. You are the teeth and the lungs. Biting back and breathing in. Cracked like a frozen moon. The heat lampseeps into the pores. This is your interrogation your fingerprints betray your eyes. Died on your honeymoon she made such a lovely bride. Left the door unlocked for you. The leeches took their turn. Your alibi was painted by a blind politician. Inside your swollen eyes sleeps a genius buried by miscalculations. You pour the liquor on the staircase, girl. Pass the flask and close your eyes. Are you grieving for what we've become? Are you running from that room?
Pass the Flask was originally issued on the Fiddler label, went out of print since shortly after it was issued, and is reissued here by the Bled's current label, Vagrant, with a whopping 11 bonus cuts, many coming from the band's earliest EPs. This is post-hardcore with just enough metal and screamo thrown in for good measure to make the Bled a thing unto itself. The set has been issued as a stop-gap between 2005's Found in the Flood and an album to be issued later in 2007

Anyway. Pass the Flask’ is The Bled’s debut album. Released in 2003 on Sorepoint records, a label that at the time included New York pop-punk quartet Brand New, the album saw the band saw the quintet enjoy a great deal of success and exposure. Following its release they toured with Canadian post-hardcore mob Alexisonfire and became one of the world’s most popular metalcore bands. The first few tracks of this album would certainly seem to justify their popularity. Red Wedding’ sees them at their angriest and heaviest. While ‘Pass the Flask’ isn’t great at all (it is very, very average) it does show a lot of promise. They are heavy enough to appeal to those looking for a quick dose of brutality, and have a melodic side that shines through the mire, but isn’t used often enough to be a defining feature of their sound here.
