A Matter of Life and Death (album). A Matter of Life and Death is the fourteenth studio album by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on 25 August 2006 in Italy and Finland, and 28 August worldwide, excluding the US, Canada and Japan on 5 September. It is the first album in Iron Maiden's career to enter the US Billboard charts in the top 10, achieving significant chart success in many other countries as well.
After an expanded reissue of Kontiki saw the light of day in 2012, Harrison decided to give Cotton Mather new life. Inspired by his studies of the I Ching, he set about writing a song for each of the 64 hexagrams. The initial batch he recorded with a new cast of musicians (and Whit Williams from the earliest incarnation of the band) form the first Cotton Mather album in 15 years, Death of the Cool. It kicks off with the romping "The Book of Too Late Changes," a track that seems designed to announce with no question that the band is back and hasn't lost a step over the years.
Is it possible to die a happy death? This is the central question of Camus's astonishing early novel, published posthumously and greeted as a major literary event.
Death was the first Death Metal band formed by Chuck Schuldiner (Vocals, Lead Guitars and former Bassist) who is considered as the 'Father of Death Metal' for his huge influence on the genre. With Death he produced 7 studio albums from 1987 to 1998. But they are all masterpieces. It's just simply the best. Death didn't change much over the years, which is a good thing. The added progressive elements here really made the sound that much better.
Essentially, Wotton, in his poem, is saying that the key to a happy life is to develop an outstanding, moral, honest, and tempered personality and character. It isn't until you are master of yourself, that you are free to be happy. The gist of most of the Character of a Happy Life is found in the last stanza, where it says: This man is freed from servile bands Of hope to rise, or fear to fall; Lord of himself, though not of lands; And having nothing, yet hath all. To Wooton, a happy life is a life of freedom
Your ideal life is a blending of these seven ingredients to a happy life in exactly the combination that makes you the happiest at any particular moment. By defining your success and happiness in terms of one or more of these seven ingredients, you create a clear target to aim at. You engage in positive thinking. You can then measure how well you’re doing. You can identify the areas where you need to make changes if you want self-improvement in your life. The first of these seven ingredients to a happy life, and easily the most important, is peace of mind
So now that the album has been released, was my prediction right, does A Matter of Life and Death surpass all that the band has done before". Without giving away the answer to the previous sentence, I can safely say that A Matter of Life and Death is by far the band's best album in years. Frontman Bruce Dickinson has a very strong showing on A Matter of Life and Death. Bruce's wails may not be at the same level as they were 23 years ago, but Bruce can still let it loose with the best of them, as he proves during the chorus of Iron Maiden's latest war epic, The Longest Day. Another instance where he impresses is in the 9:23 epic titled For the Greater Good of God. Not to be outdone by his other metal contemporaries, Bruce also spends a chunk of the album singing in a lower range.
