Star Wars (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album to the 1977 film Star Wars, composed and conducted by John Williams and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. Williams' score for Star Wars was recorded over eight sessions at Anvil Studios in Denham, England on March 5, 8–12, 15 and 16, 1977. The score was orchestrated by Williams's frequent associate Herbert W. Spencer, who also later orchestrated the scores for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi
The 1977 release of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope exponentially changed the face of pop culture. Not since the mainland arrival of the Beatles had such an intense level of fanaticism possessed the American people. Williams develops these ideas masterfully at the soundtrack's beginning, allowing the lonely horn-driven "Jedi" theme, like Luke Skywalker himself, the time to grow, waiting patiently before unleashing it in full with the bombastic and ceremonial end piece "The Throne Room. Shadows of the composer's finest contribution, "Imperial March," can be heard brewing beneath the ominous cello section during "Imperial Attack.

Original issue NEW SEALED CD 1999 Original . The Star Wars cycle, George Lucas's stellar pop parable cum merchandising blitzkrieg, has long since made history as an unparalleled arketing phenomena; somewhere Billy Jack should be in one envious, ass-kickin' mood. Phantom Menace, easily the most eagerly anticipated film of the '90s, returns to the saga's roots and allows Lucas to flesh out the history of some of the fable's core characters and conjure up a dazzling new cast of cohorts, antagonists, and alien realms for them to interact with and in. Thus, all composer John Williams had to do was. John Williams wrote A LOT of music for this album, enough music for five films. There are so many different melodies.
The original Star Wars is a great B-movie. Maybe the best, but it is still a B-movie. For all of the accolades tossed at the films, the fact that Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back are so uniquely successful is, in the end, a happy alignment of the people involved. George Lucas is often revered as a great filmmaker when in truth I believe he is a great producer who at the time had the right combination of talented people working on those two movies. There have been multiple album releases of the trilogy scores over the years. The new disk still includes all of the Benny Goodman inspired "Cantina Band" cues and the alternate "Binary Sunset" and different "Main Title" recordings.
