Dramatic Energetic Exuberant Heroic Melancholy Rustic Sentimental Turbulent. Christian Tetzlaff, Tanja Tetzlaff, Lars Vogt. Antonín Dvorák: Piano Trios Nos 3 & 4 'Dumky'. Piano Trio No. 4 in E minor, Op. 90 'Dumky' B. 166. 5. I. Lento maestoso - Allegro quasi doppio movimento (E minor).
This fruitful collaboration by three eminent chamber musicians, Christian Tetzlaff, Tanja Tetzlaff and Lars Vogt, brings together two Piano Trios by the Czech master, Antonín Dvorák (1841–1904). During the last eight years, artists forming this unique trio have recorded eight albums of chamber music for Ondine with great acclaim, including some of the Romantic standard works. These two chamber music masterpieces by Antonín Dvorák express great emotional depth and dark passion. The two piano trios by Dvorák featured in this album have remarkable similarities as well as differences . The ‘Dumky’ trio has a very unusual structure in its six movements.

DVOŘÁK Piano Trios Nos 3 & 4 gramophone. With some discs, the very first notes tell you to expect something special. 18 November at 15:27 ·. It seemed so right and made me so proud and happy to do this concert last evening in Hamburg : my father reading poetry by Paul Celan, Nelly Sachs, Ulla Hahn, Wolfgang Borchert about suffering and death.
A colorful interpretation of Dvořák's Piano Trios nos. 3 & 4, with the Tetzlaff sisters on violin and cello and Lars Vogt at the piano. They completely immerse themselves in the music, playing with strong accents (as is already clear from the first movement of the third trio), and using the entire dynamic spectrum, from whispering pianissimos to thundering fortissimos.
The two piano trios by Dvorák featured in this album have remarkable similarities as well as differences. 3, nearly symphonic in its character, hints to the world of Johannes Brahms, while the Piano Trio No. 4 (‘Dumky’) includes folkloric elements. The third piano trio might not only be considered as an homage to Brahms; it was written by the composer in 1883 shortly after the death of his mother which might well explain the sorrowful musical expression in the slow movement of the work. Christian Tetzlaff, violin Tanja Tetzlaff, cello Lars Vogt, piano. Christian Tetzlaff Tetzlaff offered a reading of the Brahms concerto that was at once immensely virtuosic and deeply personal. From his very first entrance, this was viscerally explosive violin playing, but always with a sense of purpose and richness of inner life.
The Piano Trio No. 90, B. 166, (also called Dumky trio from the subtitle Dumky) is a composition by Antonín Dvořák for piano, violin and cello. It is among the composer's best-known works. At the same time it is a prominent example for a piece of chamber music deviating strongly from the customary form of classical chamber music – both in terms of the number of movements and of their formal construction.
Antonín Dvořák: Piano Trios Nos. 3 & 4, Dumky. Christian Tetzlaff, violin; Tanja Tetzlaff, cello; Lars Vogt, piano (Ondine). Here we have a sister and brother who complete each other’s sentences as a matter of course. It helps that they’re also superb musicians, so when they toss phrases back and forth, the results seem utterly inspired. Small changes of tempo or dynamics inevitably produce just the right onward rush or tender aside. The equally sensitive Vogt might as well be their sibling, having collaborated with them on so many projects (try their Brahms album)
