In a corrupt, greed-fueled world, a powerful alchemist leads a Christ-like character and seven materialistic figures to the Holy Mountain, where they hope to achieve enlightenment.
The film is undeniably bizarre: Pitt plays a 40s-style detective whose only purpose is to warn the only other human in the film, Jack Deebs, to abstain from fucking a cartoon hussy named Holli Would. To have sex with her would transform her into a noid – . a living, breathing human. Holli wants to join the real world, and so her advances become increasingly urgent. Looking back on Cool World now, there is a lot of redeemable traits the film possesses. Nothing looks like Cool World looks. Rightly so, as Bakshi took years cultivating his craft with films like career kickstarter Fritz the Cat (1972), the powerful Holocaust metaphor Wizards (1977) and a send-up of Disney’s infamous Song of the South, Coonskin (1975).
A cult film, also commonly referred to as a cult classic, is a film with a cult following, obscure or unpopular with mainstream audiences, and often revolutionary or ironically enjoyed. Sometimes, the definition is expanded to exclude films that have been released by major studios or have big budgets, try specifically to become cult films, or become accepted by mainstream audiences and critics. Cult films are defined as much by audience reaction as they are by content.
Like any band that's survived for 50 years (and with only a short break since then), Blue Oyster Cult have hit the highs, and lows, of commercial success while maintaining their own distinct path every step of the way. They're more than a one-hit wonder - "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" was their huge hit - or a joke on Saturday Night Live; Blue Oyster Cult have a long history with great songs that have stood the test of time. But where to start? We have answers
This whole album rocks subhuman may be the best blue oyster cult song. Secret Treaties barely wins, and for good reason. It has not one, not two, but THREE riffy, badass rockers, them being Dominance and Submission, ME262, and Cagey Cretins. Then, you have the more classic-styled Career of Evil, Harvester of Eyes, and Flaming Telepaths. Subhuman is a slower one and arguably the weakest on the album, but it's still pretty good. Astronomy is one of BOC's best songs. It has everything in it that characterizes the band. Basically, this album has nothing wrong with it. Every second of it is good. 2 Fire of Unknown Origin
