Features Song Lyrics for New Model Army's Impurity album.
Impurity is the fifth studio album of British rock band New Model Army, released in September 1990. It was the first album without bassist Jason Harris, who had been replaced by Peter Nice (better known as "Nelson"). It was also to become the band's last studio album with EMI. The album sees the band venturing further into the musical territory which they began exploring on their previous album, Thunder and Consolation (1989). Violinist Ed Alleyne-Johnson was again a vital collaborator.
By the autumn of 1989, immediately the Thunder And Consolation tour ended, Justin and Robert were back in the Sawmills working towards another album and, in the new year, they were joined by a new bass player, Nelson. Partly selfproduced, "Impurity" was finally finished and mixed by Pat Collier in London in the summer of 1990. Still featuring Ed Alleyne Johnson' violin, the album was more eclectic than "Thunder" but continued many of its musical themes. It was released on EMI in September 1990. Track Listing: 1 Get Me Out (Sullivan, Heaton) 2 Space (Sullivan, Heaton,.
Musically the album is uplifting, less folksy than the preceding year's Thunder and Consolation. Eleven Years" is an elevating stab at a love song, complete with semi-flamenco guitar flourishes. Before I Get Old" is an ode to the quest for personal fulfillment and ambition of almost archetypal proportions.
